In his novel, A Partisan’s Daughter, Louis de Bernières writes some wonderful theological reflections like this description of Chris’ relationship with the Divine:“God and I have an agreement to leave each other alone. I don’t bother Him and He doesn’t bother me. If we meet in the street we raise our hats and smile and give each other a wide berth.”
